This coin by the Royal Canadian Mint commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, the predecessor to the NHL. This early governing body helped shape the way the game is played today across the country. The CAHA was formed in in 1914 and was the governing body for amateur ice hockey until 1994 when it merged with the Canadian Hockey Association or Hockey Canada. For 80 years it was responsible for Canadian amateur leagues and for a time even the Olympic team.

The reverse features an outline of a maple leaf, punctuated by a skating hockey player. The top/left half is enameled in red and the bottom/right half is enameled in black, together with the silver background or white makes up the colours of the Team Canada Olympic Hockey Team and Hockey Canada. On the left is a stylized maple leaf with the number 100 written inside for how long the association has lasted and below it the dates of the century of it has spanned. This impressive milestone is a testament to the endurance of the sport and the love Canadians have for the beautiful game of hockey. A black enameled hockey puck takes the place of the stem for the leaf and the words "Canada 20 Dollars" complete the design.
